From Baños to Macas

View the trip so far

I forgot to mention in my last past about the bus ride from Quito to Baños.  It was raining, and we fished tailed twice climbing a mountain. That was fun.  But there was more fun to come. Descending the winding roads and high speeds was a little nerve racking but exciting. Jens and I just kept looking and each other and laughing hysterically.  It was a fun bus ride.

We left Baños yesterday afternoon and took a bus to Macas, on our way to the Peruvian border.  Jens convinced me to take the road less traveled and I am so glad we did.  The bus ride yesterday was amazing.  Driving through dirt roads in the jungle was fun, but the views from the the bus were simply beautiful.

We spent the nice in a some what clean hostel. ;-) We walked around town and found a place to eat that was run by a Sicilian that moved here with his wife.  He was really entertaining.

This morning we had an amazing breakfast with fresh baked bread, beans, eggs, tostones (fried green bananas),  and juice. It was so yummy.

Today we are heading to Zomra, which is supposed to be an 8 hour bus ride, but we were told we would get there  at 10:45pm.  Something is off.  We will see what it is.  I am guess that we will have to wait two hours to transfer buses somewhere.
